Music that you might like, or maybe will think is really really bad

Hi everyone. Taking a quick break from studying cancer genetics (oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, vincristine, lynch syndrome for those of you who care--probably only Greg C., though).

Anyway, here is some silliness--I will have some real stuff later this week, so don't cry.

Awesome Tapes from Africa

Yep, that is the actual name of the blog. Some guy who was in Africa bought a bunch of tapes. Posted them. Goodness ensues.

The Duke recommends: Tiken Jah Fakoly, francafrique
Kumasi Bantama Christ Revival Singers, Wo Pe Nye Ho
Bainito Muyanda, Kifo cha Wamalma
Kandja Kouyaté, Guede
King Sunny Ade and His African Beats, Ase (feat. Stevie Wonder on harmonica)

The last one is the gem of the group, because it was made in 1983 or so, when synthesizer were taking West Africa by storm. It's got a nice groove. I'm not joking.

Other weirdness:
Ralph Carmichael presents the Electric Symphony

Instrumental gospel tunes, done by several Moog synthesizers, circa 1970.
Just listen to the samples. It's unbelievable. I don't know if it's in a bad way, or a good way.

By the way, I was not deliberately trying to find these---I stumbled upon them in a stroke of good (or bad) luck.

Don't waste too much time with these, or writing me angry emails about how this music/websites ruined you forever. And please don't say I've ruined my blog, either. Adds a bit of spice, ya know?
