Very important topic Ty. Having studied in South Africa, I learned a lot about this depressing situation since most people who can afford to have left Zimbabwe and fled to South Africa. Moving from Zimbabwe to SA is an improvement b/c unlike Mugabe, the SA government leaders are only mostly out of touch with reality (HIV policy as a prime example) and corrupt. I won't try to summarize more than this, but for those interested, the NYtimes has a nice collection of articles and links on the following page: http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/zimbabwe/index.html?8qa

Of particular interest to me as someone interested in public health is the abysmal health status of Zimbabwe, which Mugabe's reign has exacerbated beyond belief. To mention a few examples of how dire the situation is, Zimbabwe ranks among the ten countries with the lowest life expectancies, with an expected life span of 37 years (and the value has been going down in recent memory). A major reason for such a low expectancy is their HIV prevalence of around 30%.

Gotta go eat dinner. We should indeed Pray for Zimbabwe and the millions of other people suffering from absolute poverty around the world.
